About The Position

2 Surgical is a 17 bed Surgical Acute Care floor that specializes in Bariatric, Neurological, Orthopedic and Gender Care patient surgeries. 7 Surgical is a 26 bed General Surgical/Medical floor that care for general surgery patients, as well as overflow from our sister 2 Surgical floor. The role is to maintain the nursing staff in all areas as well as to deliver safe efficient age specific nursing care to patient/families.

Requirements

(ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
(BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire date (Required) or (MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing within 2 years of hire date (Required)
1+ years clinical experience (Required)
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as, exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic. (Required proficiency)
Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customers. (Required proficiency)
Demonstrated ability to handle high pressure situations with professionalism and integrity. (Required proficiency)
Knowledge of current technology and equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (Required proficiency)
PC and computer applications (Required proficiency)
Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)

Nice To Haves

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
Certification in a specialty clinical area or leadership (Required within 2 Years)

Responsibilities

Routinely provide patient care.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
Maintains employee records.
Identifies needs for and provides Staff education/staff development.
Participates in Discharge planning, community resource referrals, and education.
Committee involvement, participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Oversees daily operations of unit/area in a cost-effective manner.
Involved in Community outreach activities as pertinent Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers and co-workers.
Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
Displays commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
