Union Hospital’s 6100 Medical/Surgical Unit sees populations with a wide range of chronic illnesses, such as COPD, CHF and diabetes. Our specialists also provide post-op medical services for knee replacements, shoulder surgeries, colostomies and exploratory laps. This unit has caregivers ranging from new graduates to 30+ years of experience, and they all work collaboratively to provide the best possible care to their patients. As a Nurse Manager, you will manage the delivery of care within the 6100 Medical/Surgical unit at Mercy Hospital. In this role, you will provide diagnostic or therapeutic services to patients while offering clinical supervision, maintaining quality outcomes and supervising all aspects of personnel management and development. Ultimately, your dedication and leadership help enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience for everyone, whether they are patients, visitors or fellow caregivers. A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 7:30AM – 4:00PM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience
  • High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Two to three years of healthcare management experience
  • Previous leadership experience as a NOM or ANM

Responsibilities

  • Manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
  • Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
  • Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
  • Supervise caregivers and promote development.
  • Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.
  • Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
  • Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.
  • Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
  • Direct unit participation in evaluation of new products.
  • Approve purchases and establish or revise inventory quotes.
