About The Position
UW Medical Center–Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Nurse Manager/RN3 to join us in our Main Operating Room. This position provides professional nursing care while supporting daily operations and team leadership within the unit. Serves as a clinical resource, supports staff development, and partners with the Nurse Manager to maintain safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The role involves assisting with RN3 operational and leadership duties, collaborating closely with the Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Manager/RN3 peers, and making a difference in patients and employees served. Approximately 50% of duties involve serving as Charge Nurse.
Requirements
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse license or valid Multistate license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of two years of professional surgical nursing experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Demonstrated experience as an Operating Room registered nurse, with proficiency in perioperative nursing practice.
- Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Nice To Haves
- Surgical Scrub experience strongly preferred
- Masters Preferred
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality patient care (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
- Coordinate care across departments to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Serve as a clinical resource and role model for nursing staff
- Support staff education, onboarding, and ongoing competency development
- Assist with daily operations, including patient flow and staffing coordination
- Promote effective communication among patients, families, and care team
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain standards of care
- Provide guidance, feedback, and support to team members
- Serve as charge nurse as assigned and participate in committees as needed
- Assist with unit goals, program development, and process improvements
