Assistant Montessori Infant & Toddler Teachers (12 weeks - 36 months)
About The Position
Discovery is hiring full-time Classroom Assistants to support an infant or toddler community serving children ages 6 weeks to 3 years. Under the direction of the Lead Guide, the assistant helps children fulfill their developmental potential in an authentically prepared, inspiring Montessori environment. Montessori experience is not required; Discovery provides training and resources to new staff and welcomes educators who are open to learning about the method. The position is Monday through Friday, with start times ranging from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and end times ranging from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Discovery is a large authentic Montessori school in Southern California and a collaboration between Xplor Education and a leading Southern California aerospace company. Its community values collaboration, creativity, and attention to detail.
Requirements
- Have earned at least 12 college-level early childhood education credits, including at least 3 credits in infant/toddler care and development.
- Enjoy working with young children.
- Be warm, joyful, and professional.
- Hold valid CPR and first aid certification, or be willing to become certified before employment begins.
- Have negative TB test results from within the last 12 months, or be willing to take a TB test and receive negative results before the first day of employment.
- Be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in high-quality preschools, particularly authentic Montessori preschools.
- Speak other languages.
- Have interests to share with children, such as music, art, science, gardening, or movement.
- Appreciation for and openness to learning more about the Montessori method.
