About The Position

The Assistant Mechanic is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, preventive care, and operational readiness of all golf course equipment, vehicles, and related assets under the direction of the Equipment Manager. This position plays a critical role within the Golf Course Agronomy team by ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, properly maintained, and available to support daily Club operations while maintaining the high standards expected at Bluejack Ranch. Working closely with the Equipment Manager, Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and Agronomy team members, the Assistant Mechanic assists with equipment diagnostics, preventive maintenance programs, repairs, inventory management, and daily equipment preparation. Through technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and service excellence, the Assistant Mechanic ensures all equipment and operational areas are maintained according to Bluejack Ranch standards while supporting exceptional playing conditions and memorable experiences for members and guests.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of small/large engine repair, reel maintenance, electrical, plumbing and welding.
  • Ability to use grinding equipment and shop tools with precision.
  • Strong communication and correspondence skills with the ability to maintain sound working relationships and communications with members, management, staff, ownership, prospective buyers and vendors.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work well independently; attention to quality and detail.
  • Career oriented with strong commitment to the profession.
  • Professional appearance and presentation.
  • Enjoy working with members, guests, and associates while maintaining a professional and service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or GED required; a technical certification, vocational training, or equivalent mechanical experience is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and meet the driver safety policy requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in accredit mechanical program preferred.
  • Prior experience in high-end golf/country club or hospitality industry a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general responsibilities of an Equipment Operator under the discretion of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents, assisting with daily morning set-up of golf course.
  • Ability to grind reels and bed knives with precision
  • Dismantle, repair, construct and maintain machinery and equipment with a high degree of skill
  • Perform general shop maintenance including minor repairs to facility, shop equipment and furnishings.
  • Understand the operation and working parts of internal combustion engines
  • Understand the working properties of such metal as brass, aluminum, cast iron, and various alloys
  • Knowledge of dimensions and uses of standard nuts, bolts, screws and threads
  • Maintain all course accessories including cups/flags/flag sticks, benches.
  • Mechanical and preventive maintenance of golf carts/equipment and chargers: Mechanical wiring, Brakes and steering, Paint and body work.
  • Maintain shop/facility inventories by implementing consistent inventory checks on parts/shop supplies and facility supplies
  • Proper storage of all chemicals, lubricants, etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure carts/equipment are safe and mechanically sound
  • Maintain equipment-detailing program.
  • Maintain shop/facility cleanliness, following daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly shop and facility cleaning/maintenance checklists.
  • Maintain company vehicles and equipment with preventive maintenance programs.
  • Comply with company safety policies and procedures to include accurate MSDS information.
  • Manage the organization of components of the Natural Recourse Management Center
  • Provide excellent member services, professional advice and assistance to all patrons
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times
  • Resolve member complaints and be a Bluejack Ranch ambassador at all times
  • Adhere to all federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety and employment continually upgrade knowledge of cart maintenance procedures.
  • Perform duties with due regard for safety of self and fellow employees while exercising proper care and protection of company property.
  • Assist in morning equipment line-up.
  • General special projects and additional duties as requested by the Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, Equipment Manager, or other Club leadership.
