About The Position

Kj’s Market is hiring a full-time Assistant Meat Manager to support the meat and seafood departments. The role focuses on customer service, sales, inventory, merchandising, product quality, safety and sanitation, staff training, and labor scheduling. The assistant manager also performs department operations and other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

• Good interpersonal and effective selling skills, with an outgoing personality.
• Ability to work well with others and sell to and interact with customers.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds constantly.
• Ability to read and understand information and directions.
• Knowledge of meat and seafood products and operations.
• Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements, including operating a computer.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to work in a cold environment.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Beef Shoppe staff provide polite, friendly greetings and interactions, and create a selling environment through effective selling skills.
• Achieve budgeted sales, supply/wrap, shrink, and gross profit goals for the meat and seafood departments.
• Maintain appropriate inventory and supplies and ensure products are in stock through proper ordering.
• Operate the department according to merchandising and operational programs and guidelines.
• Maintain product quality and freshness and ensure products are within date.
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards in areas that come into contact with meat and seafood, including preparation areas, coolers, freezers, and the sales floor.
• Provide guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to meat and seafood staff to help them meet performance and customer-interaction standards.
• Perform product preparation, receiving, stocking, and guest service as needed to meet standards.
• Maintain the department labor budget and schedule optimal staffing hours to maximize sales and guest service.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
