About The Position

The Assistant Meat Manager supports and manages daily Meat Department operations in a fast-paced retail environment, helping meet service, quality, and financial expectations. The role emphasizes disciplined execution, food safety, freshness, merchandising, operational readiness, and customer satisfaction.

The position involves coordinating production and merchandising, managing inventory and expenses, maintaining safe and compliant work areas, and scheduling, training, coaching, and overseeing associates. The assistant manager contributes to sales and profitability by reviewing production results and adjusting activities to support yield and department goals. Flexible availability is required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel is not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily Meat Department operations to meet service, quality, and financial expectations.
• Maintain a professional, customer-focused environment and respond to customer inquiries and special orders.
• Plan and coordinate daily production activities, including preparation, packaging, stocking, and merchandising.
• Ensure displays are stocked, rotated, labeled, and maintained to company standards.
• Implement promotional and seasonal programs as scheduled.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, temperature, and regulatory requirements.
• Review production results and adjust activities to support yield and profitability goals.
• Manage ordering, inventory levels, shrink, reclamation, and departmental expenses.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas, including preparation rooms, coolers, freezers, display cases, and equipment.
• Schedule, train, coach, and oversee associates to ensure coverage and performance expectations.
• Complete and maintain required documentation, including logs, reports, and audits.
