About The Position

The Assistant Meat Manager supports daily Meat Department operations, contributing to sales and profitability while maintaining freshness, food safety, merchandising, service, and operational standards. The role involves planning and coordinating production, managing inventory and expenses, maintaining safe and clean work areas, and scheduling, training, coaching, and overseeing associates. It operates in a fast-paced retail environment where planning, follow-through, and leadership influence department performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily Meat Department operations to meet service, quality, and financial expectations.
• Maintain a professional, customer-focused environment and respond to customer inquiries and special orders.
• Plan and coordinate daily production activities, including preparation, packaging, stocking, and merchandising.
• Ensure displays are stocked, rotated, labeled, and maintained to company standards.
• Implement promotional and seasonal programs as scheduled.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, temperature, and regulatory requirements.
• Review production results and adjust activities to support yield and profitability goals.
• Manage ordering, inventory levels, shrink, reclamation, and departmental expenses.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas, including preparation rooms, coolers, freezers, display cases, and equipment.
• Schedule, train, coach, and oversee associates to ensure coverage and performance expectations.
• Complete and maintain required documentation, including logs, reports, and audits.
