About The Position

The Assistant Managing Editor works closely with the Managing Editor in the administration of the Annals of Mathematics. This role involves daily processing of journal submissions, managing editor assignments, handling refereeing correspondence, and making manuscript decisions. It also includes processing annual subscription fulfillment, managing print orders, communicating with various stakeholders, preparing reports on subscription metrics, processing vendor invoices, and updating the Annals' website.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with University systems and software including PeopleSoft, Information Warehouse, PRIME, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with seven faculty members of the Editorial Board and attendance at bi-monthly Board meetings.
  • Daily processing of journal submissions, editor assignments, editor instructions, refereeing correspondence and tracking, and manuscript decisions using EditFlow and a FileMaker database.
  • Processing of annual subscription fulfillment, including payment reconciliation, invoicing, and database updates for payments, advices, and subscriptions.
  • Processing of print orders, including preparation of mailing lists and packing slips, and processing claims for missing or damaged issues using a FileMaker database.
  • Communications with subscription agents, Princeton University departments, electronic hosting and print vendors, and libraries worldwide.
  • Preparation of reports on subscription metrics to identify trends and implement strategies to minimize cancellations.
  • Processing invoices from vendors via Princeton's PRIME financial system.
  • Updates to the Annals' website to include changes to subscription-related content.
