About The Position

The Assistant Manager supports and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including methods and plans for meeting store goals. The role requires knowledge across the store’s product areas and departments, adherence to company policies and visual standards, and a commitment to outstanding customer service and merchandise sales. The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control when the Store Manager is absent and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. The position also supports asset protection, personnel activities, inventory and sales oversight, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and the completion of departmental responsibilities. The Assistant Manager guides employees and customers, maintains customer-service standards, and protects company assets and financial information by following internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keeping up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
Assume responsibility for the entire store when the Store Manager is absent.
Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating personnel.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Ensure quality customer service is maintained, including assisting customers upon entry and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer-service manuals and company communications.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal-control procedures are accurate and effective and reporting potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Perform general administrative duties as needed and carry out Store Manager responsibilities when required.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training employees, planning and assigning work, directing work, and resolving problems.
