About The Position

The Assistant Manager supports and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including choosing methods and approaches to meet store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area and department, adherence to company policies and standards, and a commitment to outstanding customer service and merchandise sales. The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control when the Store Manager is absent and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. The position also involves helping manage store assets, personnel, inventory, sales, expenses, and departmental standards. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager supervises employees, directs work, and helps resolve problems. The role is hourly and non-exempt, based at the Cedar City, Utah store.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keeping up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and other store responsibilities.
Assume responsibility for the entire store when the Store Manager is absent.
Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating personnel.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Ensure quality customer service, including assisting customers as they enter and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell the company’s services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals and company communications.
Protect company assets and financial information by maintaining effective internal controls and informing management or appropriate officials of potential fraud risks.
Perform general administrative duties as needed and train in Store Manager responsibilities.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training, planning and assigning work, directing work, and resolving problems.
