About The Position

The Assistant Manager serves as the store's second-in-command, partnering with the General Manager to lead daily operations, develop team talent, and uphold the highest standards of compliance and customer experience. In the GM's absence, the Assistant Manager assumes full operational authority for the location.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older (required by Missouri DHSS-DCR)
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Missouri Facility Agent ID through DHSS-DCR/MyComplia prior to starting employment
  • Minimum 2 years of retail management, supervisory, or key holder experience; cannabis, hospitality, or specialty retail strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of cannabis products, compliance standards, and customer education
  • Proficiency with POS systems and inventory management tools
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to coach, develop, and hold a team accountable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Prior licensed cannabis dispensary experience
  • Experience with METRC or comparable seed-to-sale tracking platforms
  • Demonstrated track record of team development and culture-building

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the General Manager to drive overall store performance across sales, service, compliance, and culture
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members at all levels; contribute to performance conversations, disciplinary processes, and career development planning
  • Oversee all shift operations, ensuring service standards, compliance protocols, and customer experience benchmarks are consistently met
  • Manage inventory processes including product receiving, cycle counts, and compliance with all state tracking requirements
  • Assist with scheduling, staffing decisions, and HR documentation; serve as an escalation point for team concerns
  • Ensure full compliance with DHSS-DCR regulations, company policy, and all applicable state and local laws at all times
  • Serve as opening and/or closing manager; maintain responsibility for safe management, cash handling, and security protocols
  • Handle escalated customer situations with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and structured training of new team members
  • Contribute to operational reporting, daily logs, and performance metric reviews
