The Shift Lead / Assistant Manager holds key holder status and provides confident shift-level leadership on the sales floor. Reporting to the General Manager and Assistant Manager, this role drives team performance, maintains strict compliance adherence, and ensures every customer interaction reflects the dispensary's service standards.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older (required by Missouri DHSS-DCR)
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Missouri Facility Agent ID through DHSS-DCR/MyComplia prior to starting employment
  • Minimum 1 year of retail supervisory, key holder, or shift lead experience
  • Clear, confident communication and natural leadership presence
  • Comfortable with compliance documentation, cash handling, and POS systems
  • Ability to remain composed and decisive under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Prior cannabis dispensary or regulated retail experience
  • Familiarity with METRC or seed-to-sale tracking systems
  • Experience developing junior team members

Responsibilities

  • Open and/or close the store following all security, cash handling, alarm, and compliance protocols
  • Lead and support Budtenders, Fulfillment staff, and Reception Associates during assigned shifts
  • Serve as the on-duty manager in the absence of senior leadership; make sound operational decisions independently
  • Ensure all transactions are fully compliant with DHSS-DCR regulations, purchase limits, and company policy throughout each shift
  • Monitor product inventory and sales floor presentation; flag discrepancies or concerns to management promptly
  • Resolve customer concerns with professionalism, empathy, and urgency
  • Coach team members in real-time, reinforcing service standards, compliance expectations, and product knowledge
  • Complete all required opening and closing checklists, daily shift logs, and compliance documentation accurately
  • Communicate shift-level wins, issues, and team observations to GM and Assistant Manager
