About The Position

The Assistant Manager partners with the General Manager to help manage overall store operations, including accounting, marketing, customer service, human resources, and food service. The role directs and supports the store team in accordance with company policies and procedures and is hands-on in daily operations. The Assistant Manager is responsible for store operations when the General Manager is absent and learns to understand profit and loss (P&L) statements.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of retail management experience and/or equivalent education.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Professional appearance and positive attitude.
• Team-oriented, customer-focused, honest, hardworking, and excellent attendance.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work different shifts, including a.m., p.m., and overnight, as well as weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand, push, pull, reach, bend, squat, climb, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, work in cold indoor environments of 35 degrees or less, and prepare food.
• Ability to work in varying seasonal weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service in accordance with company policies and procedures, and promote a friendly atmosphere, meet customer needs, and use suggestive selling.
• Assist with timely, thorough training of the store team and educate team members about policies and communications.
• Work with the General Manager to address store issues and support effective, long-term problem resolution.
• Manage merchandising and inventory adequacy by evaluating displays, pricing, promotional signage, and out-of-stock items.
• Help ensure inventory control methods, equipment condition, adequate staffing, labor-budget adherence, timely accounting and paperwork, and safety and robbery-prevention guidelines.
• Help oversee food operations by evaluating food-service-area appearance, food quality, tracking, promotions, signage, and compliance with food-service guidelines.
• Take responsibility for store operations when the General Manager is absent.
• Learn and understand P&L statements.
