About The Position

Assistant Managers at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s small venues (Liberty Magic, The Harris Theater, James E Rohr Building, and Three Stories) assist guests and support traffic flow and information sharing, facilitate the sale of merchandise, concessions and tickets, support performers and technical team whenever appropriate and help to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for all who enter the venue. Assistant Managers are scheduled to work between four and eight hours per shift. These individuals work cooperatively to ensure guest safety, comfort, and enjoyment while visiting Trust venues. This is a part-time position working primarily evening and weekend hours; there are occasional daytime shifts available. Regular availability on Friday evenings as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings are required. Assistant Managers will be rotated with other part-time staff members with no annual guarantee for the number of events worked. Hours will be determined by the needs of the Trust and will coincide with events scheduled at Trust facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience that includes work in several of the following areas: business administration, retail management, arts administration, customer service, events, or production management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required.
  • Comfort and familiarity with theater audio/video equipment, knowledge of how to set up AV Equipment and troubleshoot A/V issues required.
  • People oriented, customer-service oriented, strong problem-solver.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to share the theater experience with a wide audience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in theater, theater management, production, customer service or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience managing a customer service team in a theater, retail, or front-of-house environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Venue Manager with show and event based operational functions at Trust Small Venues
  • Assist with training volunteers to ensure excellent customer service for theater patrons.
  • Work shows and special events and oversee front-of-house operations to provide exceptional patron experiences.
  • Address customer service issues during shows and events.
  • Complete performance/event report when acting in Venue Manager capacity.
  • Assist in conducting and reporting outcomes of regular inspections of the building for maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
