Assistant Manager of Building Trades (Administrator I)
About The Position
Under general supervision of the Director of Facilities Operations (DFO), the Assistant Manager of Building Trades serves as a member of the FMS leadership team, sharing responsibilities for the day-to-day operations within the FMS department. The incumbent is responsible for the daily operational execution of the building trades maintenance services, fleet maintenance operations, and central warehouse inventory control. The position provides direct supervision to assigned trades and support staff and ensures efficient delivery of preventative maintenance, corrective repair, fleet compliance, materials management, and in-house construction services in alignment with departmental standards. Direct supervision includes the following unionized staff: Facilities Workers, Facilities Maintenance Mechanics, Mason, Metal Worker, and Central Warehouse workers.
Requirements
- Equivalent to an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Four years’ experience in facilities management and/or construction trades.
- Two years’ experience directly supervising staff.
- Must maintain a valid California Driver's License.
- Must complete and comply with the CSU Defensive Driver's Training course.
Nice To Haves
- Possession of a degree in business administration, management, engineering, or technical certification in a construction management field.
- Experience in higher education or institutional setting.
- More than 3 years of experience directly supervising staff.
- Understanding of public sector constraints.
