About The Position

The Assistant Manager II supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role includes assisting with daily store activities, merchandise flow and presentation, opening and closing procedures, corporate directives, record keeping, loss prevention, and maintaining company standards for store organization, safety, and cleanliness. The Assistant Manager helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and contributes to a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and employees. Other related duties may be assigned. This is a full-time position with Family Dollar in Memphis, Tennessee. Managers may need to provide background information required by local authorities to obtain licenses for stores selling alcohol or tobacco; failure to qualify for a required license may result in demotion or separation.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive and approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal store areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store-related communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure Store Associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Promote a positive, safe, and respectful environment through professional and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
