About The Position

The Assistant Manager II supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role helps maintain merchandise, sales-floor displays, and the stockroom; performs opening and closing procedures; processes corporate directives; assists with ordering, damaged merchandise, records, cash deposits, and loss prevention; and helps ensure company standards, policies, safety, and asset protection are followed. The position also supports the supervision, training, and development of Store Associates and helps maintain a positive, safe, respectful, clean, and presentable store environment. Additional related duties may be assigned. The role may require providing background information to obtain a local license to sell alcohol or tobacco; failure to qualify for a required license may lead to demotion or separation from employment.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds from floor level to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom according to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, and ensure associates do so as well.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
