About The Position

The Assistant Manager II supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role includes assisting with daily store activities, helping customers, maintaining merchandise and store presentation, performing opening and closing procedures, processing corporate directives, and supporting ordering, recordkeeping, loss prevention, and asset security. The Assistant Manager helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and helps maintain a positive, safe, respectful, and professional environment. The position also includes maintaining store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, and trash areas, and performing other duties as assigned. The position is full-time at Family Dollar, located at 5520 Denton Highway, Haltom City, Texas 76148. Managers at stores selling alcohol and/or tobacco may need to provide background information required for local licenses; failure to comply with or qualify for a license may lead to demotion or separation. Employment is at-will, and this job description may be changed to meet business needs.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, recordkeeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure store associates do so as well.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
