About The Position

The Assistant Manager II helps the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports daily store activities, helps maintain merchandise and sales-floor presentation, carries out store procedures and corporate directives, assists with administrative and loss-prevention tasks, and helps supervise and develop associates. The position also includes maintaining store cleanliness and a safe, respectful environment. Other related duties may be assigned. This is a full-time, at-will position. Managers may need to provide background information required by local authorities to obtain licenses for stores selling alcohol or tobacco; failure to comply with or qualify for licensing may result in demotion or separation.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged-merchandise processing, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash-register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well-stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
