About The Position

The Assistant Maintenance Manager oversees maintenance, repair, and facility management across a heavy manufacturing plant with foundry, machining, and finishing operations. The role aims to maximize equipment uptime, reliability, and safety through maintenance-team leadership, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, maintenance planning, capital projects, and efficient facility operations. The position coordinates with production and other stakeholders and ensures work complies with applicable environmental, safety, quality, manufacturer, and regulatory standards. The role leads and develops maintenance supervisors, technicians, and facilities staff; manages daily maintenance activities and equipment troubleshooting; oversees foundry and precision machine-shop assets; and uses a CMMS to plan work and monitor performance. It also manages buildings, grounds, utilities, contractors, operating budgets, inventory, and capital improvements. The position promotes safe work practices and supports environmental and regulatory compliance. The work takes place on the manufacturing floor and in an office, with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, odors, and fumes. The role may require temporarily alternating shifts for operational needs and minimal travel to other McWane facilities and suppliers. The position requires flexibility for shift coverage during operating hours.
