About The Position

Gentle Ben's is seeking an Assistant Kitchen Manager to join their team in Tucson, AZ. This role is crucial for leading daily operations, coaching the back-of-house team, maintaining food quality, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences. The Assistant Kitchen Manager will work alongside the Kitchen Manager to foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, consistency, and pride in the craft. This position is ideal for someone passionate about developing people, maintaining high standards, and leading with confidence in a high-volume restaurant environment.

Requirements

  • Previous kitchen leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Strong communication and coaching skills.
  • A passion for developing others.
  • Excellent organization and time management.
  • Experience managing food quality, inventory, labor, and kitchen operations.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Experience with Toast, XtraCHEF, Microsoft Office, or similar restaurant systems.
  • Arizona Food Protection Manager Certification (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations and coach/develop the back-of-house team.
  • Maintain food quality and ensure all recipes and standards are followed.
  • Oversee kitchen operations, including prep, service, and organization.
  • Assist with weekly inventory and food cost management.
  • Manage ordering of food and kitchen supplies.
  • Maintain XtraCHEF invoices and reporting.
  • Monitor labor costs.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Ensure kitchen organization and cleanliness.
  • Plan daily prep sheets and production.
  • Oversee BOH opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure sanitation procedures, temperature logs, and health department standards are consistently followed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, control costs, and develop employees.
  • Create a kitchen culture built around consistency and hospitality.
