2026-2027 Coach - Assistant JV Baseball - CHS
About The Position
Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is hiring an Assistant JV Baseball Coach at Christiansburg High School for the 2026–2027 school year. Under the direction of the Athletic Director and/or Principal, the coach plans and implements a high-quality athletic program focused on fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship, and athlete safety. The coach also supports high academic standards by monitoring team members’ academic performance and ensuring they meet eligibility requirements. This is a supplemental coaching assignment for a designated athletic season, not a separate salaried position. Compensation follows the School Board-approved athletic supplement schedule and covers completion of the assignment from February 22, 2027, through June 12, 2027. The supplement may be prorated if the coach starts after the season begins, leaves or is removed before the assignment ends, or otherwise does not complete the full period. Appointment does not guarantee appointment or reappointment to a coaching assignment in a later season or school year. The schedule depends on the sport and may include practices, competitions, tournaments, meetings, travel, and other activities before or after the regular school day, in the evenings, on weekends, and during school holidays or breaks when scheduled and permitted by the VHSL. Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Successful completion of the Virginia High School League (VHSL) required courses.
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, and school administrators.
- Ability to motivate students.
- Dependability and punctuality.
- Regular and predictable on-site attendance.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience as a coach or participation in the sport at the high school or college level.
- Current CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement a high-quality athletic program emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship, and safety.

- Participate in practices, competitions, tournaments, meetings, travel, and other activities required by the assigned sport.
