About The Position

The JV Baseball Coach at Mt. Blue High School teaches and reinforces core baseball techniques, aligns the junior varsity program with varsity goals, and prepares student-athletes for possible advancement to varsity. The coach fosters a positive, respectful, and safe environment that supports teamwork, morale, sportsmanship, and students’ academic success and eligibility.

This is a stipend position, with employment terms determined annually by the District. The schedule requires flexible after-school hours for scheduled home and away games, including travel to those games. The coach reports to the Director of Athletics / Head Coach and is evaluated annually by the Director of Athletics or designee. The position is classified as exempt.

Requirements

• Prior competitive playing experience at the high school or college level, or 1–2 years of coaching experience.
• Strong understanding of baseball fundamentals, rules, strategies, and practice planning.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, and state-mandated concussion training, such as NFHS courses.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities to mentor and develop teenage athletes.
• Valid CHRC required before the start of the season.
• Must be at least 20 years old or a high school graduate.
• Knowledge of NFHS and MPA rules.
• Ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Teach and reinforce baseball techniques, including hitting, pitching, fielding, and base running.
• Coordinate with the varsity head coach to align terminology, schemes, and program goals.
• Prepare players mentally and physically for advancement to varsity.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and safe environment that builds teamwork and good morale.
• Monitor and support student-athletes’ academic success and eligibility.
• Implement athletic policies approved by the Mt. Blue District Schools’ Board of Education.
• Instruct and supervise student-athletes.
• Travel to home and away games.
