About The Position

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager assists the Director of Housekeeping in managing all aspects of the department inclusive of all public areas and laundry facility; maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness in all guestrooms and public areas; recommending and implementing procedural changes; and managing the department. This role requires a hospitality-oriented individual, able to work well in stressful and high-pressure situations, and who is a team player enjoying working on and with teams of people. The position involves acquiring and maintaining relationships with team members and guests, demonstrating an excellent work ethic, interpersonal and organizational skills. The role also requires the ability to grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move materials weighing up to 30 lbs, and to move throughout the building, bend, stoop and reach to assist other team members if the situation demands. Excellent verbal and written English skills are necessary, along with computer literacy in Word and Excel and knowledge of a hotel rooms management system (e.g., Alice, Opera Cloud, or other). The role requires the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Key duties include performing daily inspections of all public areas, guestrooms, exterior of the building, and back house areas to ensure the highest standards are met, monitoring progress, ensuring completion of the deep cleaning program, and assigning tasks to housekeeping colleagues. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager will supervise the housekeeping staff, providing open communication, training, coaching, counseling, and performance feedback to ensure maximum efficiency. This includes training, recommending performance evaluations, resolving issues, providing open communication, and recommending discipline and/or termination when appropriate. Ensuring compliance with accident/loss prevention programs, health/sanitation standards, and regulations to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction is crucial. The role involves issuing assignments to staff, reviewing special requests and areas of concentration to ensure a smooth flow of the housekeeping operation, and issuing supplies/goods to staff at the beginning of the shift to control inventory and ensure proper supplies while controlling expenses. Logging items into the Lost and Found and answering inquiries to maintain controls and ensure guest satisfaction, as well as responding to guest questions and providing assistance, direction, and information as requested, are also part of the responsibilities. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager will perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by the Director of Housekeeping.
