About The Position

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager assists in ensuring the day-to-day housekeeping operations are executed in a manner that meets hotel and Forbes standards. This role involves conducting inspections of guest rooms and public areas, providing exceptional levels of service, and offering day-to-day support to the Director of Housekeeping. The position also plays a key role in managing the housekeeping team through mentoring, coaching, counseling, and training, with the goal of building an exceptional team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two plus years’ experience in housekeeping within a luxury resort.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service, and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze data, figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer.
  • Knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Budgetary analysis capabilities required.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping service techniques and cost controls such as manpower, productivity and other expenses.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15-40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of guest rooms and public areas while providing exceptional levels of service.
  • Provide day to day support of the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Assist in the management of housekeeping team including mentoring, coaching, counseling and training.
  • Build an exceptional housekeeping team while supporting the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Make quality inspections check on associates and look for areas of improvement.
  • Work with Workday software and recruiting system software.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the hotel to ensure adherence to cleanliness and maintenance standards.
  • Maintain room status communication with sales and rooms team.
  • Hire, train, supervise and develop colleagues for maximum effectiveness.
  • Provide seamless employee relations with contract employees, ensuring proper training and culture integration.
  • Assist in tracking deep cleaning projects.
  • Establish safe working conditions through appropriate training.
  • Assure all safety and security policies and procedures are followed, including OSHA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
