About The Position

Riggs Washington DC is seeking an Assistant Housekeeping Manager to work directly with the Executive Housekeeper. This role involves leading a large and diverse staff of Room Attendants, House Persons, and Public Space Attendants in a historic 181-room hotel. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong leadership abilities, and have a collaborative and solution-oriented mindset. Adaptability, calmness, resourcefulness, and efficiency are key attributes for this position.

Requirements

  • Hotel Experience is not required – Fun and welcoming personality is a MUST
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. without any assistance.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule is required to meet the needs of the business
  • This position will be required to work mostly days as well as weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 1-2 years hospitality experience, especially in housekeeping, is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Housekeeping in daily operations of the Housekeeping Department, systems and SOP’s.
  • Coordinate the efficient running of the Housekeeping and Laundry/Valet departments on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that all reports required by various offices in the hotel are submitted on a timely basis.
  • Ensure that staff are scheduled based on rooming forecasts.
  • Assist in the ordering of all supplies to ensure that par levels are maintained and that purchasing is in line with budget.
  • Carry out inspections of rooms, public areas and back of house areas on a regular basis to ensure that high standards are always maintained.
  • Ensure that linen is properly controlled and ensure that quality of linen laundry service is reviewed daily.
  • Perform and oversee administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, purchasing and inventory management reports.
  • Participate in all regular and ad hoc operational meetings as required.
  • Manage projects and any other reasonable duties as required by hotel management.
  • Ensure that disciplinary procedures are undertaken fairly and in accordance to hotel policies.
  • Ensure operations meet all internal and external audit requirements.
  • Work closely with Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance of all rooms and public areas as required.
  • Work constantly with the Engineering Management team to ensure that any out of order rooms are returned to inventory expediently.
