About The Position

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager assists the Director of Housekeeping in managing all aspects of the department inclusive of all public areas and laundry facility; maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness in all guestrooms and public areas; recommending and implementing procedural changes; and managing the department. This role requires a hospitality-oriented individual, able to work well in stressful and high-pressure situations, and a team player who enjoys working with teams. The ability to acquire and maintain relationships with team members and guests is essential, along with an excellent work ethic, interpersonal and organizational skills. The position involves performing daily inspections of all public areas, guestrooms, exterior of the building, and back house areas to ensure the highest standards are met. It also includes monitoring progress, ensuring completion of the deep cleaning program, assigning tasks to housekeeping colleagues, and supervising the housekeeping staff by providing open communication, training, coaching, counseling, and performance feedback to ensure maximum efficiency. The role also involves training, recommending performance evaluations, resolving issues, and recommending discipline or termination when appropriate. Ensuring compliance with accident/loss prevention programs, health/sanitation standards, and regulations is crucial for achieving a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager will issue assignments to staff, review special requests and areas of concentration, issue supplies/goods at the beginning of the shift to control inventory and expenses, and log items into the Lost and Found while answering inquiries. Responding to guest questions and providing assistance, direction, and information as requested are also key responsibilities. The role may involve performing other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by the Director of Housekeeping.

Ability to grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move materials weighing up to 30 lbs.
Ability to move throughout building, bend, stoop and reach to assist other team members, i.e., room attendants and housemen to complete their individual tasks if situation demands.
Excellent verbal and written English skills.
Must be computer-literate in Word and Excel and have knowledge of a hotel rooms management system, i.e. Alice, Opera Cloud or other.
Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Service focused personality is essential.
Previous leadership experience required.
Prior experience working with Opera or a related system.
Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders.
Communicate thoughts, actions and opportunities clearly with strong networking skill.
Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture and set the scene for high performance.

Issues supplies/goods to staff at beginning of shift in order to control inventory and ensure proper supplies are available while controlling expenses.
Logs items into the Lost and Found and answers inquiries to maintain controls and ensure guest satisfaction.
Responds to guest questions. Provides guest assistance, direction and information as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by the Director of Housekeeping.
