About The Position

The Assistant Group Leader supports staff in carrying out planned educational and enrichment activities for an after-school enrichment and recreational program. The role assists the Group Leader with activities, supervises participants, supports activity instructors, and helps maintain a safe and supportive program environment. The position is based at 970 Vermont St, Brooklyn, NY 11207, during the school year from September through June, Monday through Friday, for up to 20 hours per week. Compensation is $17.00 per hour, and the position is non-exempt.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits and the ability to work with other youth.
• Must be available during the program hours listed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Commitment to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Group Leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational activities, arts and crafts, and special events.
• Collect attendance folders and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout the after-school program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Help monitor and maintain program rules and uphold the after-school model.
• Support activity instructors with lessons.
• Collaborate with the Group Leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follow all GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
