About The Position

The Assistant Group Leader supports staff in carrying out planned educational and enrichment activities for an after-school enrichment and recreational program. The position works at 876 Schenck Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11207, during the school year from September through June, Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., for up to 20 hours per week. The role is non-exempt and pays $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits and the ability to work with other youth.
• Must be available during the listed program hours.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Commitment to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Group Leader with engaging sports and recreation, educational, arts and crafts, and special-event activities.
• Collect the attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout the after-school program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Help monitor and maintain program rules and uphold the after-school model.
• Support activity instructors with lessons.
• Collaborate with the Group Leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follow all GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
