About The Position

Leading Edge Before and After School is hiring several Assistant Group Leaders for after-school programs at school locations in Washington, D.C. Positions start at the end of August, ahead of the school year, to allow time for training and classroom setup. The schedule is Monday through Friday, generally from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., depending on the program and school. This is a part-time role paying $20.00–$22.00 per hour, with biweekly Friday pay. Assistant Group Leaders help deliver safe, fun, age-appropriate programming where children can grow, learn, and thrive beyond the school day. They work with Center Directors and Group Leaders to supervise and engage students, support daily activities and transitions, and build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Employment is contingent on successfully completing required background checks under Washington, D.C. childcare licensing regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma.
At least one year of experience working with children in any professional setting.
Friendly and dependable, and ready to support wherever needed.
Team player with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
Successful completion of all required background checks in accordance with Washington, D.C. childcare licensing regulations.

Responsibilities

Assist the Center Director and Group Leaders in delivering fun, age-appropriate activities.
Help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
Supervise students and engage with them positively.
Support transitions, snack time, and enrichment activities.
Foster strong relationships with students, families, and staff.
