About The Position

The Assistant Group Leader supports staff in carrying out planned educational and enrichment activities for an after-school enrichment and recreational program. The role assists the Group Leader and activity instructors, supervises participants, and helps maintain a safe and supportive environment while following GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.

The position is based at 750 Baychester Ave, Bronx, NY 10475, and runs during the school year from September through June. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 1:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., for up to 20 hours per week. The role is non-exempt and pays $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits and the ability to work with youth.
• Be available during the listed program hours.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Commitment to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Group Leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational activities, arts and crafts, and special events.
• Collect the attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout the after-school program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Help monitor and maintain program rules and uphold the after-school model.
• Support activity instructors with lessons.
• Collaborate with the Group Leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follow all GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
