About The Position

The Assistant Group Leader supports staff in carrying out planned educational and enrichment activities for an after-school enrichment and recreational program. The role assists the Group Leader and activity instructors, supervises participants, and helps maintain a safe and supportive environment. The position is scheduled during the school year, September through June, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., for up to 20 hours per week. It is non-exempt and pays $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits.
• Ability to work with youth.
• Availability during the listed program hours.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Commitment to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Group Leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational activities, arts and crafts, and special events.
• Collect the attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout the after-school program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Help monitor and maintain program rules and uphold the after-school model.
• Support activity instructors with lessons.
• Collaborate with the Group Leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follow all GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
