Assistant Group Leader - PS 382
About The Position
The Assistant Group Leader supports staff in carrying out planned educational and enrichment activities for an after-school enrichment and recreational program at PS 382. The role assists the Group Leader and activity instructors, supervises participants, and helps maintain a safe, supportive environment while upholding program rules and the afterschool model. The position is located at 125 East 181st Street, Bronx, New York 10453. It is scheduled during the school year, September through June, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., for up to 20 hours per week. The role is non-exempt and pays $17.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits and the ability to work with other youth.
- Must be available during the listed program hours.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
- Commitment to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Group Leader with engaging sports and recreation, educational, arts and crafts, and special-event activities.
- Collect the attendance folder and other data as necessary.
- Supervise participants throughout the afterschool program.
- Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
- Help monitor and maintain program rules and uphold the afterschool model.
- Support activity instructors with lessons.
- Collaborate with the Group Leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
- Follow all GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
