About The Position

The Assistant Group Leader supports program staff in carrying out planned educational and enrichment activities for the after-school enrichment and recreational program. The role assists the Group Leader and activity instructors, supervises participants, and helps maintain a safe, supportive environment while following all GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.

The position is based at 757 Wortman Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11208. The schedule is during the school year, September through June, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., for up to 20 hours per week. The role is non-exempt and pays $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits and the ability to work with youth.
• Must be available during the listed program hours.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Commitment to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Group Leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational activities, arts and crafts, and special events.
• Collect the attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout the after-school program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with cleanup.
• Help monitor and maintain program rules and uphold the after-school model.
• Support activity instructors with lessons.
• Collaborate with the Group Leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follow all GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
