About The Position

The Assistant Grocery Manager helps customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service and managing and leading the Grocery team. The role assists the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for productivity and profit, and is responsible for ordering, inventory controls, product quality, and team supervision. The Assistant Grocery Manager coordinates merchandising and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork. The role supports hiring, teaching, training, and developing team members, helps ensure the department delivers quality products and service, unloads and sorts store deliveries, and ensures company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines are followed. This position involves working in a fast-paced grocery retail environment, with a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. It requires walking, lifting and transferring products, and repetitive squatting, kneeling, and bending.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have 1–3 years of retail management experience.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to give and take direction in a team environment.
Demonstrate an outgoing, friendly behavior and positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers.
Show leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff.
Have working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
Have strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills.
Have strong organization and planning skills, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Be able to walk up to 3 miles per 8-hour shift.
Vertically transfer milk trays weighing up to 60 lbs. from 9 inches to 62 inches for up to 25 hours.
Vertically and horizontally transfer boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. from 5 inches to 34 inches, up to 5 feet, for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance.
Repetitively squat, kneel, and bend to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours.
