About The Position

The Assistant Grocery Manager assists the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the grocery department for productivity and profit. The role helps lead the Grocery team, supports customers in making healthy food choices, and delivers excellent customer service in a fast-paced, friendly environment. Responsibilities include ordering and inventory control, maintaining product quality, coordinating merchandising and sales, and supporting team hiring, training, and development. The role also involves unloading and sorting deliveries and ensuring that company health, safety, and sanitation procedures are followed.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have 1–3 years of retail management experience.
Must be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to give and take direction while participating in a team environment.
Must demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers.
Must demonstrate leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff.
Must have working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
Must have strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills.
Must have strong organization and planning skills and be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per 8-hour period.
Must vertically transfer milk trays weighing up to 60 pounds from 9 inches to 62 inches for up to 25 hours.
Must vertically and horizontally transfer boxes weighing up to 50 pounds from 5 inches to 34 inches, over a distance of up to 5 feet, for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance.
Must repetitively squat, kneel, and bend to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours.

Responsibilities

Assist the Grocery Manager with managing and merchandising the department to maximize productivity and profit.
Manage ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Grocery team.
Coordinate merchandising and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
Help lead the team in delivering quality products, excellent service, and a positive customer experience.
Assist with hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Grocery team.
Unload and sort store deliveries.
Ensure company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations are followed, and confirm team members understand and follow the procedures.
Provide excellent customer service and help customers make healthy food choices.
