About The Position

The Assistant Grocery Manager helps customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service and managing and leading the Grocery team. The role assists the Grocery Manager with managing and merchandising the department for productivity and profit, and is responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and team supervision. It coordinates merchandising and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork. The Assistant Grocery Manager also supports hiring, teaching, training, and developing team members; unloads and sorts store deliveries; and helps ensure compliance with company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines. The position operates in a fast-paced, friendly grocery retail environment and requires a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have 1–3 years of retail management experience.
• Must be dependable and reliable and able to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to take and give direction in a team environment.
• Must demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers.
• Must have proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff.
• Must have working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Must have strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must have strong organization and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per 8-hour period.
• Must vertically transfer milk trays weighing up to 60 pounds from 9 inches to 62 inches for up to 25 hours.
• Must vertically and horizontally transfer boxes weighing up to 50 pounds from 5 inches to 34 inches, across a distance of up to 5 feet, for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Must repetitively squat, kneel, or bend to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours.
