About The Position
The Assistant Grocery Manager supports grocery department operations by assisting with ordering, pricing, scheduling, labor and inventory control, merchandising, and recordkeeping. The role works with supervisors and management to maintain department standards and support sales.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to perform the described physical duties, including moving heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with ordering merchandise for the department, follow the store ordering cycle, correct order books as needed, supervise orders written by outside suppliers, and maintain minimum back-room inventory.
- Help maintain accurate pricing using price books, daily and weekly price-change sheets, merchandising lists, and promotional lists.
- Work with the supervisor to establish and monitor team-member work schedules.
- Maintain effective control of department labor and inventory in accordance with established guidelines.
- Monitor competitive activity in the store’s marketing areas as it relates to the department.
- Plan merchandising programs to increase sales.
- Assist management with cross-merchandising ideas with other departments.
- Maintain appropriate department records.
