About The Position

The Assistant Grocery Manager helps customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service while managing and leading the Grocery team. The role assists the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for productivity and profit, and is responsible for ordering, inventory controls, product quality, and team supervision. The position coordinates merchandising and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork, and helps the team deliver quality products, strong service, and a positive customer experience. It also supports hiring, teaching, training, and developing team members; unloads and sorts store deliveries; and ensures compliance with company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines. The role requires a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays, along with substantial walking, lifting, transferring, and repetitive bending or squatting.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have 1–3 years of retail management experience.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to take and give direction while participating in a team environment.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers.
Have proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff, and working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
Have strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills.
Have strong organization and planning skills, including the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Walk up to 3 miles per 8 hours.
Vertically transfer milk trays weighing up to 60 lbs. from 9 inches to 62 inches for up to 25 hours.
Vertically and horizontally transfer boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. from 5 inches to 34 inches, for up to 5 feet, for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance.
Repetitively squat, kneel, and bend to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours.

Responsibilities
