The Assistant General Manager is responsible for leading the rooms division at the hotel, including housekeeping and front desk. This role involves selecting, supervising, training, developing, scheduling, disciplining, and counseling staff. The Assistant General Manager demonstrates positive leadership characteristics that empower and inspire employees to meet and exceed standards. In conjunction with the General Manager, this role acts as a direct liaison to all community organizations, city officials, industry associations, and public relations entities. The position ensures all applicable standards, policies, and procedures are fully implemented in all departments. The Assistant General Manager participates in the preparation of the annual operating budget and financial plans, works with the General Manager to meet or exceed established budgetary guidelines, and protects and enhances the value of all property assets. This role analyzes team-member and guest feedback, introduces and leads necessary changes and improvements, and acts as the People & Culture (HR) representative for the property. Responsibilities also include administrative tasks related to recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employment verifications, unemployment claims, employee relations, leaves of absence, and workers compensation claims. Additionally, the role organizes, maintains, and reconciles financial records, ensures proper internal control by monitoring ledgers, and performs accounting-related tasks such as deposits, payments, and petty cash reports.
