About The Position

The Assistant General Manager (Grocery - Full & MDC) will be responsible for communicating with individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing, driving and developing the business plan for their area of responsibility to achieve facility goals, and managing assigned financial aspects. This role involves forecasting and following up on staffing, workload, and performance results, monitoring and ensuring facility-wide compliance with quality and safety standards, and investigating and resolving associate, customer, and supplier concerns. The Assistant General Manager will also serve as a community liaison, supervise and manage associates and leaders, and foster a culture of belonging and development. Key focuses include respecting individuals by building high-performing teams and strong relationships, acting with integrity by upholding ethical standards and supporting Walmart's regenerative company goals, serving customers by delivering results and putting the customer first, and striving for excellence by driving continuous improvement and embracing new technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Financial Management, Production/Operations Management); and 2 years experience in a senior management role within an operations/distribution/logistics environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide
  • OR 2 years experience as a Walmart Logistics Operations Manager including supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing associates; managing associate workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of associates
  • OR 4 years experience in a senior management role in an operations/distribution/logistics /retail environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with or to individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (e.g., customers, suppliers, associates).
  • Drive, develop, and implement the business plan for area of responsibility to achieve facility goals (e.g., production, quality, safety) and implement operational improvements.
  • Forecast and follow up on staffing, workload, and performance results to meet business demands.
  • Manage assigned financial aspects by monitoring and tracking expenses compared to budget, monitoring asset utilization, and preparing, reviewing, and/or analyzing business reports.
  • Monitor and ensure facility-wide compliance with Logistics and company quality and safety standards, policies, procedures, and directives by developing, distributing, and/or maintaining procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Investigate and ensure associate, customer, and supplier concerns are resolved using own judgment or consulting others when needed.
  • Serve as a community liaison by participating in local and community organizations and charitable activities, championing company-sponsored programs and events to associates, customers, and the local community.
  • Supervise and manage associates and leaders in area of responsibility by giving direction, communicating goals, monitoring performance and providing feedback, identifying training and development needs and providing opportunities for learning and growth, teaching and supporting Logistics and company policies and procedures, and participating in the hiring, promotion, coaching, teaching, and evaluation of associates facility-wide.
