About The Position

The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager and help oversee daily paratransit service at First Student’s New Jersey Transit location in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. The role works with operational teams to address issues, maintain service standards, and meet program requirements. The opening is tied to a pending contract award.

This position offers the opportunity to work with and lead employees across the scope of paratransit operations, staying close to daily work and making practical improvements for passengers and employees.

Requirements

• At least five years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in community transportation, paratransit, demand-response service, public transportation, logistics, fleet management, or a closely related field.
• Experience in transportation operations, employee supervision, customer service, scheduling, and dispatch.
• Familiarity with fleet operations, regulatory compliance, and personnel management.
• Ability to make sound decisions and communicate clearly with employees and leadership.
• English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Help direct daily transportation operations, including scheduling, dispatch, and service delivery.
• Supervise and support employees across operations and customer service.
• Work with maintenance and safety teams to address vehicle availability and operational concerns.
• Respond to service issues and help resolve passenger and customer concerns.
• Monitor performance and follow through on needed improvements.
• Support staffing, training, and employee management.
• Help ensure operations meet contract requirements and applicable transportation regulations.
