About The Position

The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) reports directly to the FSO and assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of security procedures as required by the Cleared Facility, the Department of Defense (DOD), Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency and 32 CFR Part 117 - National Industrial Security Manual (NISPOM). US Citizenship is a mandatory requirement due to the nature of work and the need to obtain the required security clearance.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required due to the nature of work and to obtain the required security clearance.
  • Strong knowledge of DISS, NISS and NBIS government programs, SF85 and SF86, DD 254 and DD 441, and SF 328
  • In-depth knowledge of NISPOM requirements, have strong computer skills and cyber knowledge
  • Must complete or have completed Non-possessing Facility, Program Management for Possessing Facilities, Introduction to Industrial Security, Insider Threat Overview Training courses.
  • Must be able to interpret and implement security policy, provide guidance, oversight, and assistance to company personnel
  • Must be able to demonstrate by knowledge and experience the ability to manage and oversee comprehensive Security Compliance Program
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Must have strong people skills, work independently and in team

Nice To Haves

  • Perform presentations and training
  • Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA)-qualified FSO or 2 years’ experience in security programs as AFSO or in a related field
  • Preferred TS level clearance (or able to obtain); must possess at minimum a DOD secret Clearance.
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree
  • Should have completed applicable DCSA courses
  • Preferred Certifications include any of the following: Non-possessing Facility Program Management for Possessing Facilities Introduction to Industrial Security Insider Threat Overview

Responsibilities

  • Assists the FSO with the overall security program
  • People and Culture liaison (HR)
  • Pre-employment new hire assessments
  • Processes new employee security clearances
  • Tracks security clearance investigations and performs administrative support functions, including Defense Information for Security (DISS) and Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-App) administration
  • Provides security briefings, debriefings, and awareness training for site personnel
  • Processes outgoing visit requests and certifications
  • Track unofficial international travel for cleared personnel
  • Review required forms, processes, and screens security forms (SF85 and SF86)
  • Ensures document control security by safeguarding classified documents in accordance with the NISPOM and through coordination with government agencies, and the FSO
  • Assists in preparation for facility reviews and inspections
  • Develop, implement, and oversee federal security clearance program
  • Provide training for AFSO’s and classified/secure project personnel
  • Oversee company’s completion and retention of personnel security clearance records
  • Oversee and assist FSO’s with self-inspection and review of security processes to ensure compliance with relevant laws
  • Oversee and assist FSO’s with coordination of closeout for all classified projects
  • Oversight of company CUI / ITAR processes and compliance
  • Support other company security disciplines as needed in connection with classified/secure projects: Legal, Information Technology and Corporate Communications
