About The Position

The Assistant Educator supports the Lead Educator in providing a nurturing, positive, and innovative learning environment where students can thrive and develop skills for lifelong success. The role promotes children’s social and emotional development, encourages curiosity, reinforces daily routines, and helps maintain a safe and stimulating classroom where each student is valued, respected, and supported. The Assistant Educator helps implement play-based, age-appropriate learning activities; supervises and engages students; supports documentation of developmental progress; maintains classroom cleanliness and safety; assists with classroom routines and conflict resolution; and communicates with families under the guidance of the Lead Educator and Director. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues and supervisors to share ideas, resources, and best practices.

Requirements

Meet Department of Human Services (DHS) Assistant Teacher qualification requirements.
Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing or sitting for extended periods; lifting and carrying children and classroom materials up to 40 pounds; bending, stooping, and kneeling; and responding quickly to emergencies or situations requiring physical intervention.
Willingness to undergo background checks and meet state licensing requirements for working in a childcare setting.
Possess a valid CPR/First Aid certification or be willing to obtain it within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Educator in implementing play-based, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities supporting students’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development in alignment with early learning standards.
Help maintain a classroom culture that fosters belonging, safety, and curiosity.
Supervise and engage with students to ensure their safety and active participation in daily activities.
Help monitor students’ developmental progress and support documentation as directed by the Lead Educator.
Clean and sanitize the classroom, including toys, surfaces, and equipment, to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment.
Help students with conflict resolution and problem-solving using developmentally appropriate techniques.
Support adherence to classroom schedules and routines.
Communicate positively and professionally with families during drop-off, pick-up, and as needed, under the guidance of the Lead Educator and Director.
Use the company’s Parent Communication app to provide families with daily updates on children’s progress, activities, and development.
Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to share ideas, resources, and best practices.
