About The Position

The Four Seasons Hotel Montreal is seeking an Assistant Spa Manager to join their management team. This role involves managing the daily activities of the Guerlain Spa, Fitness, and Wellness area. Requirements

  • Good communication skills in French, both spoken and written.
  • An advanced level of English is required to ensure oral and written communication with business partners, stakeholders, suppliers, and a predominantly international clientele.
  • Solid knowledge of Spa Management and have creativity and strong marketing, communication and holistic skills.
  • Strong understanding of the financial budgeting and forecasting process for a spa business.
  • Have a good resistance to stress and manage it positively and effectively.
  • Be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent team management skills are required to engage and motivate a diverse and dynamic team.
  • Demonstrate a very good team spirit.
  • Interest and ability to provide outstanding service to our internal, external customers and our suppliers.
  • Have an excellent presentation and elocution, in French and English, and interpersonal skills to meet the expectations of a high-end clientele.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behave in a mature manner and with integrity at all times, including outside the hotel while on business.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Be organized, meticulous and resourceful.
  • Demonstrate creativity and initiative.
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Book4Time.
  • 3 to 4 years’ experience with diversity of Spa, Fitness and Wellness related management positions.

Nice To Haves

  • College diploma preferably specializing in Business Management is encouraged, however, not essential if applicants have previous relevant work experience as therapist or esthetician.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the professional management of the daily activities of the spa department.
  • Manage good relationships among staff members and colleagues within the department.
  • Participate in training and development to ensure the ultimate care of clientele.
  • Welcome all hotel guests and members, and register them correctly.
  • Offer amenities and a tour of the facilities.
  • Offer assistance with the use of equipment, as needed.
  • Ensure all service billing is completed accurately and punctually.
  • Act as a liaison with the reception department to ensure proper billing.
  • Coach employees, advise them, and impose disciplinary measures to motivate them and ensure compliance with Four Seasons standards and procedures.
  • Evaluate and recruit necessary staff.
  • Ensure all staff members have received adequate training and possess the necessary skills before providing care or classes.
  • Manage all interactions with members/guests with the highest degree of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests when possible.
  • Resolve customer complaints; assist clients with any requests related to club or hotel services.
  • Properly make all necessary reservations related to services and activities required by the spa and fitness center.
  • Properly use the booking log, emails, voicemails, and failure system as communication methods to ensure member/guest satisfaction with services provided in the fitness area.
  • Ability to administer first aid or CPR, if necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with daily, opening/closing checklists by doing a round to ensure all spa and fitness areas are well maintained, well stocked, and clean, to ensure fitness equipment and facilities are of high quality and that any repairs are made for hotel guests and members.
  • Ability to follow appropriate payroll procedures.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed and notify security in case of accident or injury.
  • Enforce spa regulations.
  • Handle, store, and use all chemicals adequately and safely.
  • Manage other tasks or projects as deemed necessary by management and hotel staff.
  • Attend training sessions and assist other departments, such as locker rooms, and conduct group exercises based on operational needs.
  • Participate in necessary meetings, such as operations club, safety committee, and the 8:30 operational meeting in the absence of the department head.
  • Oversee all aspects of the department including interviewing and training staff, monitoring the facilities with the assistance of Engineering and Housekeeping and coordinating daily schedules for the Guerlain spa operational and therapist teams.
  • Assist in creating Guerlain spa menus, seasonal treatments and a tasteful environment.
  • Duties include but are not limited to treatment scheduling, monitoring treatment room utilization, monitoring and ordering operational supplies, communicating and prioritizing facility repairs with the Engineering team, ensuring the spa team is engaged, effectively communicating resort and corporate initiatives to the Guerlain spa team.
  • Advocate on behalf of the Spa Department while building and maintaining strong working relationships with the other hotel department leadership teams.
  • Extensive experience handling guest complaints including follow-up with the guest to ensure that the problem was resolved to their satisfaction.
  • The Spa Manager should also feel confident in coaching the involved staff to avoid future lapses in service.
  • Heavily involved in creating a strong marketing brand and sales techniques that build and drive both resort guest capture as well as local business.
  • The successful candidate will possess a marketing skill set that includes a solid understanding of social media and the generation of seasonally appropriate content to drive business in both peak and low seasons.
  • Execute any other designated task.
