The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking an Entry-Level Assistant District Attorney to begin September 7, 2027. The Office serves Bronx County and pursues justice with integrity. Attorneys receive significant responsibility early in their careers, extensive courtroom experience, and guidance from experienced supervisors. As they become proficient, they handle serious and complex cases and develop litigation skills through court appearances, hearings, motion practice, evidentiary proceedings, and trials. Attorneys must commit to three years of initial service and may be assigned evening, night, weekend, and holiday work, as well as 24-hour responses to crime scenes, police precincts, and booking facilities. The Office provides hands-on litigation training and continuing legal education, including simulation-based exercises, mentorship, advanced instruction in specialized practice areas, hands-on supervision, and collaborative case review. After training, attorneys are typically assigned to misdemeanor practice in the General Crimes Bureau or Domestic Violence Bureau. After approximately 18–24 months, based on demonstrated readiness, they may be eligible to move to a felony trial or investigative bureau. Specialized bureaus offer more complex cases, advanced trial skills, and increased responsibility. Salary is $85,000 for attorneys who are not admitted to the New York State Bar and $90,000 for admitted attorneys. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; pre-tax health, dependent care, and transit spending account options; annual and sick leave; deferred compensation; membership in the NYC Employees’ Retirement System pension plan; and additional employee benefits. The Office describes its environment as collaborative and mission-driven, valuing professionalism, integrity, wellness, and continuous learning.
