About The Position

The District Attorney’s Office for Osage and Pawnee Counties is seeking an Assistant District Attorney to serve in the Pawnee County office. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful courtroom work, real responsibility, and the chance to serve a rural community where a good prosecutor can make a lasting difference. This position is ideal for an attorney who is ready to take ownership of a meaningful public service role. The Pawnee County ADA must be capable of independently managing the day-to-day responsibilities of a county prosecutor’s office, while also working as part of a larger district team with support from other Assistant District Attorneys and the District Attorney. We are looking for someone who wants to serve a community, make sound decisions, work well with others, support victims, build trust with law enforcement, and uphold the highest standards of ethical prosecution.

Requirements

  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • A license to practice law in Oklahoma, or the ability to become licensed in Oklahoma.
  • Strong ethical standards and sound judgment.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • The ability to work well with victims, law enforcement, courthouse personnel, and the public.
  • A willingness and ability to do trial work.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior prosecution or criminal law experience is helpful, but the most important qualifications are integrity, judgment, work ethic, and the ability to handle responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Handling criminal and juvenile cases in Pawnee County from filing through final disposition.
  • Making sound, ethical charging and plea recommendation decisions.
  • Preparing and trying cases before a jury.
  • Working closely with victims and ensuring their rights and voices are respected.
  • Collaborating with law enforcement agencies in case preparation and legal guidance.
  • Maintaining strong professional relationships with courthouse personnel, judges, court staff, defense attorneys, law enforcement, and community partners.
  • Seeking justice in a way that protects the public, respects the law, and maintains the integrity of the office.

Benefits

  • Full State of Oklahoma benefits including generous monthly allowance for health coverage, paid sick and vacation leave earned monthly.
  • Paid holidays.
