About The Position

The Assistant Director for University Housing is responsible for the general oversight of all Housing business operations, central housing office functions, support and assistance in programming efforts, and assistance with budget development. The Assistant Director is a live-on position who will work in conjunction with the Director of University Housing and the Associate Director of Housing to ensure the effective implementation and evaluation of residential facilities, budgets, and procedures. Direct supervision of Resident Director staff, and indirect supervision of student employees. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of two years live-on housing experience
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with StarRez, Housing Software, including occupancy management practices.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience with the daily operations of a housing department and/or front desk operations.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience supervision of housing residential life staff.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with diverse populations in a University Housing setting.
  • Demonstrated professional communication skills through supervision, business operations, residential life curriculum development, or related University Housing activities.
  • At least one year experience developing goal setting for others in a professional supervisory setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration or related field
  • Four to six years of experience in college or university housing is preferred.
  • At least one-year experience with student conduct administration, and hearing and sanctioning processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary member of the management team in developing, executing, and evaluating departmental goals, policies, organization, and programs.
  • Collaborate with management team on development of programs and services.
  • Serve as a participant in scheduled on-call/duty responsibilities. On a day-to-day basis in partnership with campus departments handles crisis management cases on campus, including student welfare, academic concerns, etc.
  • Assists in managing all aspects of the disciplinary process in the residence halls.
  • Maintain an on-going assessment of all Housing programs.
  • Oversee summer conference programs. Work with other campus entities to schedule housing for conference groups, coordinate cleaning/renovation schedule, check-in/out conference guests. Bill appropriate groups and students, etc.
  • Manage the Housing Summer Conference staff.
  • Supervises all aspects of the central housing office and daily business operations.
  • Serves as part of the leadership team in selecting, training and evaluating Resident Directors and Resident Assistants.
  • Assists in the University Housing room assignment process.
  • Serves as part of the leadership team in the departmental efforts to ensure the Resident Assistant position evolves and grows to best support the needs of residential students.
  • Assists with the implementation of a long-range business operations plan for University Housing in conjunction with the Director of University Housing.
  • Serve as Housing liaison with service departments such as Purchasing, Campus Safety, etc. for issues related to the overall function of the department.
  • Represents Housing on University committees and on special projects as appointed by the Director.
  • Performs other appropriate job-related duties as assigned by the Director.
