This role is for an Assistant Director, Regional Practices within the Physician Practice Administration Alliance on Long Island.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • 8-10 years experience in medical practice management, preferably in a large multi-specialty group practice or academic medical center
  • Successful track record in leadership and staff management
  • Strong understanding of the theories, principles, and processes of physician office and revenue cycle management
  • Demonstrated success in working with physicians
  • Experience with IT systems used in healthcare
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the day-to-day activities of multiple ambulatory practices.
  • Responsible for the implementation of FGP and NYU planning decisions and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities relative to practice operations, develops pro forma, and implements novel initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains ambulatory policies and procedures for practice administration.
  • Assists in the development of the FGP Ambulatory's vision and strategic plans, and executes recommendations and initiatives.
  • Assists in troubleshooting institutional issues related to the FGP.
  • Stays current on regulatory policies and industry changes affecting business operations and disseminates this information.
  • Keeps abreast of new practice management products and technologies to enhance operational efficiencies and revenue.
  • Oversees asset acquisition and maintenance.
  • Direct responsibility for HR functions including hiring, firing, evaluations, and merits.
  • Works with call center leadership to develop call algorithms to expedite patient access.
  • Oversees internal staff to manage calls within the practice access.
  • Monitors quality metrics including PQRS / Meaningful Use and coordinates process improvements.
  • Meets regularly with Faculty Group Practice leadership to report operating and financial results.
  • Reports operating issues that may impact financial results to FGP Leadership.
  • Oversees facility programming and works with RED+F to address physical plant needs.
  • Collaboratively responsible for implementing business plan components and monitoring achievement of benchmarks and goals with FGP leadership.
  • Manages front-end business processes including charge capture, authorization/referrals, and copay collections.
  • Develops staffing needs to support patient care and operational needs.
  • Designs and deploys employee reward and recognition programs.
  • Improves operational work flows to enhance the patient experience, including reducing wait times, improving patient communication, optimizing templates, and addressing opportunities identified through surveys.
  • Monitors and maintains practice performance standards, working with physicians and staff to meet targets for access, productivity, customer service, and other business performance standards.
  • Works with FGP clinical leadership to ensure accreditation standards are maintained.
  • Oversees clinical and administrative information systems in collaboration with FGP and SOM Information Technology contacts.
  • Interacts with Sr. Director, Clinical Affairs to coordinate and integrate departmental providers and initiatives.
  • Partners with the Director, Ambulatory Transitions to transition new physicians into appropriate ambulatory sites.
  • Plans, develops, directs, and monitors initiatives to improve patient care.
  • Collaborates with Practice Managers/Leaders to ensure patient and employee safety and comfort, including developing business continuity plans.
  • Oversees front-end business office functions and serves as primary contact with billing vendors.
  • Plans, develops, directs, and monitors initiatives to improve revenue cycle processes.
  • Serves as an NYU Langone Health Faculty Group Practice Brand Ambassador, upholding the mission, vision, and values and promoting excellence in patient experience.
  • Drives consistency in patient and colleague encounters by embodying the core principles of the FGP Service Strategy CARES (Connect, Align, Respond, Ensure, and Sign-Off).
  • Greets patients warmly and professionally, stating name and role, and clearly communicates each step of the care/interaction.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and site management to ensure positive experiences and timely resolution for all patient interactions and inquiries.
  • Proactively anticipates patient needs and participates in service recovery using the LEARN model (Listen, Empathize, Apologize, Resolve, Notify), escalating to leadership as appropriate.
  • Shares ideas for improving patient experience and access with appropriate leadership.
  • Partners with Patient Access Center and Central Billing Office team members to support collaboration and promote a positive patient experience.
  • Takes a proactive approach in ensuring practice staff are versed in Access Agreement gold standard principles.
